If you're looking to get a foot into the radio industry, you'll have to be prepared to work for free, Key 103 breakfast co-presenter Chelsea Norris has told school pupils.Norris, who fronts the breakfast show alongside Mike Toolan on the Emap station, visited a college in Atherton, near Wigan, to give advice to media students looking to get their first gig.
Norris told year 11 pupils at Hesketh Fletcher Humanities College that she offered to work her first week in radio for free when she was 17, which led to her winning a paid job.
She studied journalism at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston before freelancing at Magic 1152 and being offered a job at Century FM in Manchester.
A college spokesman told the Leigh Journal: "It was a brilliant, fun and interesting experience for all involved and a big thank you goes to Chelsea for giving up her time."
Norris also told stories of her celebrity chinwags with Justin Timberlake and Will Young, and gave practical advice to the pupils on how to plan a radio show and how playlists work.

Clearly, that's what she thinks she's worth. Nothing.
No wonder professionalism in broadcasting has been seriously devalued when daft women like this tell our kids to give their services to rich commericial companies at no cost.
The rich get rich and ripoff Britain continues on its merry way.
