Having worked his way through hospital radio and landed the third best slot on Radio Norwich, Alan Partridge is understood to be making the leap to the big screen in the new year.

Steve Coogan is in talks with co-writer Patrick Marber to begin work on Alan Partridge: The Movie.

In an interview with Time Out New York, Marber said the idea of making a film of the radio presenter's exploits was being discussed, but that the plans were still in their infancy.

"The Alan Partridge movie is a series of lunches between me and Steve Coogan," said Marber.

"There’s no script, there are a few ideas, there’s an ongoing conversation."
