Radio Magazine reveals the best of radio in 2006

Radio's an incredibly subjective beast.

We've all got our idea of what makes great radio, so just for a bit of a laugh we've drawn up an end-of-year report in The Radio Magazine that mathematically works out which ARE the best radio programmes, presenters, programmers, ad teams etc in the industry.

The methodology's a little bit secret - but bascially we've taken around 30 of the biggest award ceremonies that recognise great radio, from the Sonys and New York to more grass roots stuff.

Everyone who was shortlisted for an award gets points (depending on how prestigious we think the award is). If you're bronze, you get more points. Silver, more still. Gold ... you get the picture.

Then all the points from all the awards get pooled together to give us an overall picture of the stations and presenters that have really grabbed the attention of judging panels and ordinary listeners in the last 12 months.

To see how well your station fared, check out this week's Radio Mag. But as a bit of a teaser... the UK's best commercial radio station isn't based in London and has quite a niche appeal... the best breakfast presenter is roughly 10th in his/her market in terms of audience reach... and the bloke pictured above might feature somewhere in the results.
