FoI request reveals Wogan earns £1,300 an hour from Children in Need

Radio 2 breakfast presenter Sir Terry Wogan is paid £1,300 an hour to host BBC Children In Need, it emerged today.

The veteran broadcaster is the only celebrity to be paid for the fundraising event, according to details released under the Freedom of Information Act to the Mail on Sunday.

In 2005, Wogan picked up £9,065 for a seven-hour role as the Children in Need main presenter.

The BBC said the "nominal" sum comes from its own budget and not that of the charity.

Wogan told the Mail On Sunday: "I've never asked for a fee and I would quite happily do it for nothing."
