theJazz unveils programme schedule

TheJazz has signed Jamie Cullum, former Jazz FM presenter Helen Mayhew and veteran presenter David Jensen as it prepares to launch presenter-led shows.

The GCap digital station, which launched on Christmas Day playing non-stop music, will introduce a full line-up of presenters from 9am on Friday 6 April.

They include Helen Mayhew, one of the original presenters on London's Jazz FM when it launched in 1990. She will present a nightly show from 9pm to midnight.

Mark Forrest has been confirmed as the voice of breakfast, with Anthony Davis on mid-mornings and radio veteran David Jensen takes afternoons. Capital's Margherita Taylor will front "Easy Jazz at 6" every weekday evening.

Jazz star Jamie Cullum will present a Saturday show, from 11am to 1pm, and the syndicated "Legends of Jazz" show with Ramsey Lewis will also be making an appearance on the station on a Sunday lunchtime.

The first presenter voice to be heard on the station will be that of Helen Mayhew, who will launch the station's all-time jazz countdown on Good Friday at 9am. David Jensen will follow at 1pm and Margherita Taylor will host the evening section of the chart between 5pm and 9pm.

The jazz chart will continue through the weekend, with the number one revealed at around 9pm on Easter Monday.
