GCap Media has poached Chrysalis's group head of programmes, Pete Simmons, to return to the home of Capital Radio, where he carved out his radio career.Simmons will join GCap as group programme director for content and digital at a date yet to be finalised.
The move sees him back at the home of Capital Radio, where Simmons worked for the best part of 20 years.
After a stint at Metro Radio in Newcastle, he joined the London commercial station in 1983, soon becoming senior producer on the flagship evening news show, The Way It Is.
He was promoted to programme controller, and was behind the setting up of Party in the Park and Help a London Child, before leaving in 2001 to take up his current role at Chrysalis, where he oversees programming on Galaxy, Heart and LBC.
Reporting to GCap's group programme director Dirk Anthony, Simmons will head up the group's digital radio team, developing new brands while also sourcing content for GCap network in the form of exclusive interviews and live concerts.
Dirk Anthony said: “We are very much looking forward to having Pete on board. His vast programming knowledge and experience will help create greater value from the rich content GCap generates every day.”
