Double victory for Chris Moyles at radio awards

Chris Moyles has swept the board in the radio categories at this year's TRIC awards.

The self-proclaimed saviour of Radio 1 picked up two gongs at last night's ceremony, organised by the Television and Radio Industries Club.

Moyles's breakfast show was crowned radio programme of the year, fending off competition from Radio 2's Steve Wright in the Afternoon and Chris Evans, who cemented his radio comeback last year when he took over the drivetime slot from Johnnie Walker on Radio 2.

Moyles was also awarded radio personality of the year, beating Capital Radio breakfast rival Johnny Vaughan and Radio 2's Jonathan Ross.

Former BBC local radio presenter turned TV star Richard Hammond was named best satellite/digital TV personality. Hammond is in the running to present a one-off charity special edition of Radio 4's Woman's Hour on Red Nose Day, next Friday.
