Commercial stations see BBC iPlayer as a threat

The Beeb's iPlayer is causing a stir among the commercial radio industry.

The software — which allows users to watch and listen to on-demand TV and radio content from the last seven days over the internet— has undergone a public value test and is now being subjected to an Ofcom market impact assessment.

Radiocentre head of external relations Lisa Kerr tells Broadcast magazine: "If public money is going into the iPlayer, it should not just host BBC content."
